Naked Officials Reassigned, Demoted in Anti-Graft Move
Dec 16, 2014 By eChinacities.com

The latest move in the fight against corruption has seen nearly 1,000 naked officials- government workers whose families have emigrated- reassigned as measures to curb the practice have gone into place.

The China Central Committee which has been investigating the issue has discovered over 3,200 officials in higher level management positions.

Under new regulations that came into force in January, officials whose families have migrated overseas are not allowed to be promoted, in a landmark move. This means that naked officials can’t hold high level positions in government, state-owned enterprises, the military, diplomacy or national security.

Naked officials have the choice to move their families back to China, but those who refuse will be demoted.

Reassignment has already begun to take place across the country. In June, the Guangdong provincial government reassigned 866 naked officials and brought back the families of a further 200 government workers.
