On March 13, in order to rescue a trapped dog, a Guangzhou man made a fake emergency call about a child in danger. While the dog was saved, the man was sentenced to three nights in jail for the fake call.

According to Guangzhou police, the Tianhe police station received a call at 3 pm claiming that a small child had fallen into a large water-filled hole at a football field in the Tianhe district. In response, a total of 13 firefighters and police were immediately sent to the scene.

When police and firefighters arrived at the field, there was no trace of any child. Instead, they found an abandoned dog trapped in a ditch.

After the dog was rescued, the police received a confession from the caller.

The 35 year old Guangzhou man was sentenced to three nights in administrative detention for the crime of suspected intentional disruption of public order.
