Man Kidnaps Woman to Take Home for Chinese New Year

Man Kidnaps Woman to Take Home for Chinese New Year

Everyone knows that Chinese families put a lot of pressure on the younger generations to get married, but you know a line has been crossed when a guy resorted to kidnapping out of fear of familial pressure.

32-year-old Liu kidnapped a 24-year-old woman, surnamed Tan, on February 9 at around 08:00. She was on the way to the Dalian Development District where she works in a factory, when Liu suddenly appeared, grabbed her and put his hand in her mouth. According to Tan he said “Don’t move. Come back to my hometown for Spring Festival and act as my wife”.

She says that Liu then tied her up and threw her over his shoulder and carried her away into the bushes.

Meanwhile, her boyfriend was looking for her as she hadn’t contacted him that morning. After she didn’t answer her phone, he got worried and called the police who looked at surveillance footage from her route to work and saw the kidnapping.

At around 10:30 the same morning, the police found Tan tied up in the bushes by the roadside. Liu was sitting next to her.

When interviewed by police, Liu said that he was ‘distressed’ that none of his relationships had ended in marriage and that everyone in his family is already married.

He didn’t know how to face his relatives and felt ‘immense psychological pressure’ about going home for Spring Festival. He had been plotting for about a month to kidnap a woman to take home and introduce as his girlfriend. He had come prepared that morning with a rope to restrain his victim.

Police contacted Liu’s parents who were extremely shocked at what their son had done, but had noticed that he had become increasingly introverted.

Liu is still in police custody pending charges.

China is one of very few countries that has more men than women. Everywhere else in the world it is a battle for women to get a single man. Chinese guys should probably be more open minded and take advantage of single foreign ladies in China..... #exhibitA

I just can't understand how he expected this plan to work. How did he plan to explain why his fiancee was bound and gagged? Was he perhaps going to claim she was training to be an escapologist? Or was he just hoping Stockholm Syndrome would do all the work for him? So much left unexplained.

Why didn't he just pay a girl to act? Or how about just not go home for Spring Festival? Nvm, what do I know... foreigners can't understand such a superior culture.

Family pressure, this is an excuse for everything in China. Don't we all have family pressure what ever our nationality ???? We don't go out and kidnap a wife to make us look good.Freak

'this is an excuse for everything in China.' Nailed it. Everything is others' fault. No personal responsibility, no conscience, plain ruthless cruelty. The CCP trained these low lives to get off the hook by calling themselves 'strong and powerful'. When confronted they do anything from lies to murder to save face and win.

of course this is the fault of foreigners. If foreign guys didn't 'steal' Chinese girls there would be no problem.

LOL. What are you going to do? Kidnap me like the brave anonymous Chinese guy you are? Are you saying that there are 40 million foreign guys 'stealing' 40 million girls from China? Oh, wait a moment, the surplus of 40 million single men is the result of a mis-guided social engineering policy that has back-fired in China. Or could it also be to do with the lack of social skills in China?
