Just in time for the Easter Holiday, a “Make your own ‘golden egg’” recipe recently went viral on everyone’s favorite Chinese social media time-suck, Sina Weibo.
According to the original poster, it’s as easy as grabbing an egg, shaking the living hell out of it (to break the yolk inside and let it mix with the egg whites) and then boiling it as usual. Once it’s peeled, if you’ve shaken it enough, you should come out with something resembling a sickly-looking yellowish colored egg. Fun!
Shortly after going viral, countless other users started uploading pictures of their very own “golden eggs” (or complaining about how they couldn’t get it to work).
