Microsoft has announced via Skype, that Windows Live Messenger services will be closed as of October 31.

Microsoft officially said goodbye to the Live Messenger services outside of China in April 2013. However, users on the Chinese mainland have been experiencing difficulties with the service, including hacking, login problems and file transfer problems, to name but a few.

MSN once boasted over 20 million Chinese users, but has suffered greatly since the rise of new online communication tools such as Wechat, QQ and Sina Weibo.
