Location and Climate

Qingdao is located at the southern tip of the Shandong Peninsula (35°35' – 37°09' N, 119°30'-121°00' E). The County of Qingdao has a coastline (including its islands) of 862.4 kilometers, 730 kilometers of which are continental coastline.

The southeastern monsoon, sea currents and tides influence the city's climate. Thus the city enjoys hot summers and fairly warm winters. The average annual temperature is 12.5°C, while the average summer temperature is 25.1°C. Average annual precipitation is 696.6 millimeters of rain, with the wettest months being June and July.
