Location and Climate

Dalian is located on the Liaodong Peninsula in northeastern China at 120°58' to 123°31' east longitude and 38°43' to 40°10' latitude. With the Yellow Sea to the east and the Bohai Sea to the west, Dalian's jurisdiction extends over the southern part of Liaodong Peninsula. It is considered the gateway to northeast China.

Dalian lies in the warm temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere, and has a continental monsoon climate. The area experiences all seasons: winters are cold, with January average minimums of around -9C (15F), and summers are quite mild with the hottest temperatures in July being around 28C (82F). The city experiences little precipitation with annual rainfall of around 600mm (24 inches).
