A Jilin primary school teacher has been punished by the Changyi District Bureau of Education for borrowing over 250,000 RMB from 38 different parents at his school.

Mr. Fu had borrowed the money from a number of different parents, starting in 2015. The former Changyi District Second Experimental Primary School teacher borrowed a total of 250,086 RMB. “He had given a number of reasons for borrowing the money, including owing his family doctor, family difficulties, and other seasons,” said a school staff member. Many of the parents found it difficult to refuse his request.

The Bureau of Education mandated that Mr. Fu must write receipts for all parents involved and create a repayment plan. He must repay one-third of the loans within the next six months.

The Bureau of Education first found out about the incident on April 11. Mr. Fu was immediately suspended and his teaching qualifications were revoked for three years.
