Peking University Graduate School of Archaeology and Museology student Xu Bin (a pseudonym)  has been released unharmed after being held by Iraqi police on suspicion of being a member of ISIS.

Xu was released on July 27, according to the Chinese Embassy in Iraq. He had been detained by Iraqi forces in northern Iraq a few days ago. He was soon released when the Chinese Embassy intervened.

Xu was arrested at a Shiite monument in Samarra, Iraq. Iraqi police have since confirmed that Xu is not involved with ISIS and was only in Iraq to study the nation's historical sites.
