Heavy Rains to Hit A Number of Cities in China this Week

A number of areas in China will experience heavy rain on from June 13 to 16. Area affected include central and southern Jiangnan, eastern South China, southern Guizhou, central and southern Jiangxi, southern Zhejiang, northwestern Fujian, southern Hunan, parts of southeastern Guizhou, northern and eastern Guangxi and northern Guangdong.

Affected areas will received 100 to 230 mm of rainfall during the day, and a total of 130 to 230 mm of rain. Some areas will receive 250 to 350 mm with short periods of very heavy rain, and experience local thunderstorms.

Northern regions will also experience heavy rainfalls from June 13 to 14. Many areas will experience significant rains accompanied by periods of heavy rain. Central and eastern Inner Mongolia, North China, and Huanghuai will experience small to moderate rain or thunderstorms, and heavy local rain. Beijing and Tianjin will experience moderate to heavy rain.

In all, 1 million square kilometers in China will be affected by heavy rains. Experts have warned that flooding may occur, especially in South China.
