Harbin Public Transport Security Employs Sniffer Dogs

Harbin public transport authorities are introducing dogs trained to sniff out narcotics and explosive materials in the cities latest drive to upgrade security. Patrols made up of four officers and two sniffer dogs will be randomly searching public buses throughout the city, searching for traces of gasoline, drugs, explosives and other prohibited items.

This latest security measure comes in the wake of a wave of arson attacks on public transport. Most recently a packed bus in Guangzhou was set on fire, killing 2 and injuring 35.
