Guangzhou Transport - Train

The Jing-Guang (Beijing-Guangzhou) Railway Line is the main transportation line that links south and north China. In addition, the Guangzhou-Maoming and Guangzhou-Shantou railways connect Guangzhou to the east and west of the country. Additionally, one direct-link train travels between Guangzhou and Kowloon, Hong Kong daily.

The Yuehai Railway, which opened in 2004, links Guangzhou with Haikou (the capital of the island province of Hainan) via a train ferry across the Qiongzhou Strait. The train departs at 21:20 every day from Guangzhou Railway Station, arriving 11.5 hours later at Haikou. Fares range from 138 RMB for a hard seat to 400 RMB for a lower soft sleeper. An express line connecting Guangzhou with Lhasa is also available from Guangzhou Railway Station. The 4,980 km journey takes 54 hours, with fares beginning at 451 RMB.
