Global Terrorism Report: China Ranks as Medium Risk at 32

A report on terrorism across the globe by Maplecroft, a British risk assessment consultancy, has found that in the past 12 months, 18,668 people died in terrorist attacks; a 30 percent increase from the average of the past five years.

Over the past year, the agency recorded 9,471 terrorist incidents worldwide, occurring at an average of 26 cases per day. They also found that while the number of attacks has dropped, the number of casualties has increased, meaning that attacks are becoming more deadly.

Whilst China didn’t rank amongst the highest risk countries, it was noted that it has seen the most significant increase in terrorist activity, alongside Kenya, Libya and Egypt.

A total of 76 people have died from terrorist attacks in China so far this year.
