Kunmingers rejoice! In the next three years, China plans to construct a railway from Kunming to Bangkok with a round trip fare of 700 RMB.
The ground breaking ceremony will be held in Thailand in October, said the general manager of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited.
The train will cost half or one-third was much as an a round trip plane ticket between the two cities. The railway will help facilitate the large numbers of Chinese tourists traveling to Thailand each year, and make it easier for Thailand to export agricultural products. The link will also add to Thailand's role as ASEAN's transport hub.
