Around 14:00 on Sunday afternoon, Harbin encountered a freak hailstorm. Hailstones the size of soy beans rained down on the city in a sudden flurry that lasted only 10 minutes.

After the shower, there were reports of hailstones lying 10cm thick on some streets. Weather reports predict that over the next three days Harbin will experience several more rain and thunderstorms, and the temperature to drop significantly during this period.
