OK...first thing first, this is NOT a legal requirement for any foreigner to undertake. Secondly, those of you registered to work here legally can sign an "opt" out form should you wish not to take the Chinese governments social insurance. Thirdly, if you do take it, it is obviously based on your salary, for eg : i would of paid 249RMB per month and the company an additional 400RMB. Fourthly, you need to pay into this for at least 15 years to qualify for one of the mentioned insurances, a pension at 60 years old, You only qualify for 2 of the 5 mentioned insurances anyway, Retirement and medical. I for one am not going to take part in it. Hope this helps.

This stats is only partially true. It provides statistics info of foreigners registered with this particular ministry who are issued with work visa but does not include all foreigners registered with State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs who are issued with foreign expert certificate. There are also a large number of foreigners in China who are not registered with either government agency but hold F visa or other type of visas.

they've done well to get the manholes covered, but, question... can I sue the government for lax rules if I get cancer ( or worse ) induced by the toxic chemical food that gets churned out. Here's a story for you, I went to the supermarket ( one of Chinas biggest chains ) and paced up and down the aisles looking for 'edible' food. I couldn't find anything so I asked the manager to find something herself. I followed her as she started off ( which I knew was no doubt a futile exercise ), and after looking at numerous products, including the frozen section ( my eyeballs were in pain - they were doing cartwheels ), she took me to where they make food to order. Well now, everythings laced, so her solution... - get the head-chef to make something especially for me. Now half of the store staff is checking this out. They are pros at making you look like a complete arse. Please China sort out your health issues!! re: the tax, well in the end lots of bums would be encouraged to leave - so at the end of the day, despite what crap we put up with, hey , a chinaman's far betting sharing a morsel with than a dumbass foreigner. Bring it on. p.s. China - sort out your health issues!! We are human... HHH..UUU...MMM...AAA...NNN. Getit?
