A fisherman in Hubei accidentally caught the largest Chinese sturgeon that has been found in the Yangtze River in the past 20 years. It was 3.3 meters long, and weighed more than 350 kilograms.

The Chinese sturgeon is pregnant, and the fisherman did his best not to hurt the creature further. It was hurt a little bit when it accidentally ended up in the fisherman’s net, but will be patched up and released back into the river.

Chinese sturgeons are an endangered species that lives only in, you guessed it, China. Discovering a pregnant sturgeon is great news, especially considering all the conservation projects that have been attempted.
