A person was left injured after an explosion at a Guangzhou bus station. The explosion came from a rubbish bin opposite the entrance to the Jiaokou Bus station in Liwan District.

A fifty year old sanitation worker was injured by the blast and has since been taken to the hospital for treatment. She sustained injuries to her hands and was said to be covered in blood after the explosion.

Police cordoned off the area and searched for related explosive material. The explosion has been attributed to a firework that had been improperly discarded in the bin.
