Whether it be for recreational reasons, or to get some exercise, swimming is great fun, and can be done throughout the entire year at some of these top-notch swimming complexes and water parks. Take a look at these and see if you think any of them are worth a splash!

1) Dalian Swimming Pool

Dalian Swimming Pool is a fresh water swimming complex that has been used for city-wide swimming competitions, and the facilities here are arguably the best and most professional in all of Dalian. The water is clean and the temperature is maintained at between 26 and 28 degrees in the two pools; one is 50 meters long and 2 meters deep, and the other is 25 meters long and 1.6 meters deep.

There are free shower and sauna facilities, but it is best to bring your own slippers, as the center charges 30 RMB for them otherwise. Make sure you bring your own swimming costumes too as the ones sold at the pool are not of high quality and quite pricy.

If you prefer to go when it is quieter, go between Monday and Friday, as in the weekend this pool naturally attracts large groups of playing children.

2) Landao Indoor Pool

Landao Indoor Pool is located on Xiaoping Island, and is the newest sea water swimming complex within the Dalian city bounds. The swimming pool is 50 by 15 meters, and the water depth is between 1.3 and 2 meters. The water quality is good, and temperatures are maintained between 26 and 28 degrees.

This swimming pool is not a bad choice as there are generally not too many people, but remember to bring your own towel! On weekends some areas are reserved for classes and organized group activities.

3) Haido Large World Indoor Pool (海帝大世界)

Sea Emperor World’s 15,000 square meter swimming complex has a swimming pool, a sauna, catering facilities and other kinds of entertainment all under one roof. It is the only one in the city that introduced a German-made Ozone generator for the water, making the water quality of international standards. The 50 metres by 25 metres swimming pool is also installed according to international quality standards.

If you want to visit with children, they will enjoy the child-friendly big water slides and children’s entertainment area. Other entertainment facilities for the entire family include a table tennis room, a gymnasium, free massage rooms, sports facilities and a spa: Sea Emperor World really has it all. After exercise and play, there is a lot of tasty seafood and other great options in the dining hall.

4) Yannian Indoor Pool (彦年海水游泳馆)
One of the most popular swimming complexes in Dalian is this one: Yannian Sea Water Swimming Complex. The 50 metres by 25 metres swimming pool was installed according to international standards, and depth ranges between 1.45 metres and 3.9 metres. There is a triple filter water system, heating, circulation, and water disinfection, and the water is clean and safe, and generally at a pleasant 26 degree celcius.

The complex also contains a dragon bath at 5 RMB extra. In the recreation area, there is a lot of free equipment, a table tennis table at 25 RMB per hour and pool at 15 RMB per hour.  But what really sets this swimming complex apart from the rest is that it is open 24 hours a day, and there is accommodation in the complex too, for those who just can’t get enough of the water.

5) Lanting Fitness Center (兰亭康体中心游泳馆)

Fulihua Nanshan Garden Hotel’s Lanting Sports Center Swimming Pool is a more luxurious pool, and has a beautiful glass roof. This makes for a tranquil environment for its swimming pool. The pool is 30 meters by 10 meters, and the depth ranges between 1.35 meters and 2.2 meters, with good quality water, which is kept at a temperature of 26 degrees.

There is a free sauna and there are shower facilities, which come with a towel and slippers so you do not need to provide them yourself. The Lanting Sports Center also has a table tennis room, chess and card games’ rooms, for other sports and entertainment facilities.
