Craving some culture but strapped for cash? Well worry not, students of Shanghai, because there are now discounted theatre tickets available for university students in the city.
12 major theatres are involved in the scheme, as part of a local government drive to promote the arts among the young folk. Students can get a 40 RMB discount on tickets that usually cost 60-180 RMB.
The Shanghai Grand Theatre and the Oriental Arts Centre are among the theatres involved in the project, which could benefit up to 600,00 Shanghai college students.
The move has been inspired, in part, by the success of the Shanghai film festival, which had to arrange an additional 150 screenings to cope with demand this year.
