Images of a slightly terrifying 13 story-high footbridge in Chongqing has caused a fluster among netizens from around the country, after they were shared on a Weibo page dedicated to the city.

The bridge is about 40 meters high and 30 meters long and connects the 13th floor of a residential building to Xinhua Road on street level. Local residents say that the bridge is really convenient for getting into the city center and people have started using it as a quick way to get to work.

As Chongqing is known for it’s quirky architecture and has even been dubbed the ‘City of Bridges’ by the China Daily, it’s no wonder that the local residents are unfazed by the structure, with one local netizen commenting: “I don’t think it’s strange: I’m used to seeing this kind of thing...”, whilst others took the sudden peak in interest in the city as an opportunity to welcome visitors.
