Chinese Company Puts Up Satirical Job Notice Looking for Smooth Talkers and Troublemakers

Yesterday, the Yangzi Evening News featured a story detailing a very strange job poster put up by a Chinese company. The yellow poster attracted a large crowd of curious onlookers. There were 5 different jobs listed on the notice, all with very unique employment conditions.

1) Businessman: Must be a smooth talker, good at chasing girls

2) Public Works Supervisor: Must have been in a group fight, and have shouldered a burden

3) Driver: Must have driven through red lights, and have broken the rules.

4) Freight Mechanic: Must be able to become drunk without drinking, just from eating and sleeping

5) Reserve Manager: Must be a troublemaker, must exercise like an ant

Many in the crowd of migrant workers reading the sign said that they initially thought that the sign had been put up by a gang or the mafia. “It is definitely not a good company if they want troublemakers, people who run red lights and people who get into fights,” one said. Another person saw the sign as something different, “It's too funny, I've never seen a job posting like this.”

The company later explained the poster. A person who is, “good at chasing girls,” is articulate, and someone who has “been in a group fight,” must have strong organizational skills. A candidate who has “shouldered a burden,” is responsible and a “troublemaker,” is an innovative thinker. Someone who has “run a red light,” can make good from a bad situation. The company added that the recruiting poster was merely a novelty and should not be taken too seriously.

China really is a country unused to satire. I suppose that's why reporters at places like the People's Daily sometimes get taken in by articles The Onion runs.

A post like that is a good way to set the drones apart from the thinkers, I will give the company that.
