The Afghan government and the Taliban will hold a second round of peace talks in China next week, and will discuss a possible ceasefire agreement. The talks will be held on July 30.

Afghan government negotiator Mohammad Nateqi said that a ceasefire was mentioned in the first round of peace talks held in Pakistan earlier this month, and the discussion will be continued in the second round.

Nateqi said that the government will strive to promote a comprehensive ceasefire agreement with the Taliban.

The Taliban will send senior leaders to participate in the negotiations.

The United States launched a war in Afghanistan against the Taliban regime in 2001. There has been armed conflict between the Taliban and Afghan government for more than 13 years.
