China Surpasses U.S. as World's Top Oil Importer

According to preliminary data released by the US Energy Information Administration, China overtook the United States to become the largest monthly net importer of oil in December 2012. That month, US oil imports fell to 5.98 million barrels per day, as China’s grew to 6.12 million barrels a day. Analysts worldwide expect China’s annual imports to top the United States’ in 2013.
