Hefei has quite an extensive shopping scene. There is a wide variety of local products from the city and surrounding region, ranging from handicrafts to nationally-popular liquors to fresh produce. Hefei is well known for producing a number of interesting handicrafts such as bamboo carvings, embroidery and bamboo paintings. Hefei is also famous for producing all of the equipment and media for Chinese calligraphy, ink and inkstones, paper and brushes. Gujing Gongjiu is a famous liquor in China that is produced in Hefei and exported throughout the country. Fresh produce such as pomegranates, grapes, pears and kiwi are all grown locally and are quite good here.
