Bo Xilai Gets Harsher Sentence Than Anyone Thought

Bo Xilai Gets Harsher Sentence Than Anyone Thought
Sep 23, 2013 By eChinacities.com

The trial is over. Yesterday, on September 22 the disgraced leader, Bo Xilai, received his sentencing. His conviction was inevitable, but the harsher sentence was a surprise to many. Analysts initially predicted 15-20 years. However, in the Jinan People’s Intermediate Court in Shandong Province yesterday, Bo was sentenced to a life sentence for bribery, 15 years for embezzlement and seven years for abuse of power.

The five day trial which took place at the end of last month was followed with enthusiasm by both domestic and international audiences. Some believe that the harsher sentence was Jinan People’s Intermediate Court’s response to Bo’s overconfident defense, much of which he mounted himself.

With an arrogance likes his, it is almost certain that he will appeal the verdict in the coming week.

Oh really, how about the fact that Xi Jing Pings Dauther attends Harvard, which costs almost 360,000 RMB a year, or at least twice his official salary?
