Beijing Transport - Airport

Beijing is home to two major airports: Beijing Capital International Airport and Nanyuan Airport. The two airports are the most frequently used airports in the Beijing area. Beijing Capital International Airport is located in the northeast urban Shunyi District, about 30 km away from the city. Most flights in and out of Beijing take off and land at Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3. Terminal 3 is the largest terminal in the world. The terminals in the Beijing Capital Airport are very far from each other, so make sure you know what terminal your flight leaves out of before you arrive at the airport. From Beijing, it is a 2 hour flight to Shanghai, a 3 hour flight to Guangzhou, a 3 hour flight to Shenzhen and Chengdu, a 3.5 hour flight to Sanya and about a 75 minute flight to Qingdao.

There is free wifi inside Beijing Capital Airport terminals. Passengers can receive a wifi account by showing their valid documents or can log-on with real-name certification (using your Chinese cell phone number). The accounts last for 5 hours and each person can apply for up to 3 accounts.

From the airport, passengers can take the Airport Express subway line, taxis or airport buses from the airport to the city.

The Airport Express subway line runs from Dongzhimen to Sanyuanqiao to Airport Terminal 2 and ends at Airport Terminal 3. The entire trip lasts about 30 minutes and costs 25 Yuan. Real-time flight information is available at Dongzhimen and Sanyuanqiao stations. Taxis from the airport cost 10 Yuan for the first 3 kilometers and then 2 Yuan a kilometer after that. A taxi ride between the airport and the city will take close to an hour and cost about 80 Yuan.

Airport buses run from Beijing Capital Airport to a number of stops in the city. Passengers can take airport buses to Fangzhuang, Xidan, Beijing Railway Station, Gongzhufen, Zhongguancun, the Olympic Villages, Beijing West Railway Station, Yizhuang, Beijing South Railway Station. There are 10 buses to surrounding cities for travelers to Tianjin, Langfang, Qinhuangdao, Tanggu and Baoding. The airport buses run on 2, 3, or 4 wires on a two-way grid. An airport bus will depart about every 15 minutes, depending on the line. The ride into Beijing takes about an hour and costs 16 Yuan.

Nanyuan Airport is located in the Fengtai District on the intersection of Jingbei West Road and Jingbei East Road. The intersection is 15 km east of Tiananmen Square. Flights from Nanyuan include flights to Wuxi, Jiamusi, Jingdezhen, Dalian, Harbin, Haila'er, Chengdu and Hohhot.
