Beijing Drivers Prepare for Most Congested Month of the Year
Sep 02, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Authorities have warned Beijing drivers that the worst month for Beijing traffic is about to be upon us. Citizens are being encouraged to stay out of cars as much as possible and to opt for subway travel rather than taxis.

Several factors contribute to this increase in traffic; the start of the new school year, Mid- Autumn festival and Golden week fall within this period making it particularly difficult to hit the roads.

Beijing’s traffic watchdog estimates that there will be 2.36 million vehicles driving within the fifth ring road next month; that’s an increase of 4.1 percent compared to the rest of the year.
