Beijing Counterfeit Phone Company Caught Scamming U.S. Customers

Beijing police have busted a tech company that purchased old cell phone parts from overseas and used the parts to mass produce counterfeit phones to sell abroad.

Nine suspects were arrested, 1,400 counterfeit smart phones and over a million counterfeit phone parts were seized. Six production lines made to manufacture counterfeit phones were discovered at the scene.

In early May, a number of counterfeit smart phones from China were seized in the United States. Beijing police immediately set up a task force with China's customs and other relevant departments to find the source of the counterfeit phones.

Since January of this year, the company has exported 41,000 fake Iphones and 66,000 charging cords abroad, worth a total of 120 million Yuan.
