A man armed with knife attempted to rob a female civilian on July 30 2014 at 21:22, at Wang Fu Jing, according to the news forum from the official WeChat account of the Beijing Police Bureau “Ping An Beijing”. Security police noticed immediately and sprung into action. At 21:57, police successfully diverted the attention of the criminal, and the hostage was rescued.

Preliminary assessment concluded that suspect Mr. Zhang (born in Liu Zhou, Guangxi Province in 1976) has no detailed knowledge about the hostage. The offender’s motive behind this incident is still under investigation.
