A retired designer has decided to give up life in the big city and moved into a DIY tree house in the countryside, complete with a room shaped like a tea pot for guests.

Gu Yuezi, who is in his 60’s, is basically living the dream- his little house, dubbed the ‘bird’s nest’, is about 10 square meters and has a hall, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. It can apparently support the weight of 20 people.

He made the descision to get out of the city and move to the forest three years ago, and has been planning his escape ever since.

Whilst the tea pot on the ground floor is for dining and entertaining guests, the tree house is reserved as a quiet place for him to practice his painting, carving and calligraphy.
