Yiwu is part of the greater Municipal region of Jinhua city in Zhejiang Province, with a total land area of 1,105 square kilometers. In 2010, the resident population of Yiwu was about 1.23 million about 0.88 million of whom live in the urban area which makes up 90 square kilometers. Among the city’s permanent residents, there are 0.647 million males and 0.587 million females, accounting for 52.44% and 47.56% of the total population respectively. The Han population accounts for over 95.12% of the total with the remaining 4.88% being made up of 47 very small minorities.
