The jurisdiction area of Tianjin is 11,760 square kilometers. As of 2006 the city’s urban population reached 12.93 million (Han 97%, Hui 1.75% and Manchu 0.57%). Of the resident population, 6.9million are males, accounting for 53.38% and 6.03 million are females, accounting for 46.62%.
