Apple has accepted Chinese conditions for sale in the mainland which include inspections and checks to ensure users’ personal privacy and ‘national security’.

According to a spokesperson that was present at a meeting in December between Lu Wei, director of the State Internet Information Office and Apple’s CEO Tim Cook, the two sides came to an agreement whereby all Apple products in the mainland would be subject to network security inspections by Chinese authorities.

The spokesperson mentioned that the products must ensure the safety of Chinese users’ personal information, as well as national security.

Cook reportedly said during the meeting, “Some time ago there were rumors that we were providing back doors and data to third-parties. We did not and will not provide back doors.”

Cook then agreed to cooperate and facilitate any inspections that the government wished to perform on Apple products.

Who are the Chinese to make demands about foreign products? Either take it or don't.

Agree. Who knows what kind of junk they'd install on the phones purchased here.
