Jimei District will be playing host to the annual Cross Strait Dragon Boat Cultural Festival from May 17 to 18. 66 teams from Xiamen, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and seven mainland cities will be competing in three different categories: 200 meters, 500 meters and Dragon Boat tug of war.
The opening ceremony will be held at 08:30 on May 17 where the eyes of the dragon boats will be painted on as the finishing touches according to tradition.
When you’re not cheering on the Dragon Boat Race, alternative entertainment in the form of Minnan Opera and Dragon Dancing, as well as various demonstrations of traditional culture will be available.
