After 2 Years, Tang Jun Admits to Paying for Fake PhD
Jun 28, 2012 By eChinacities.com

Tang Jun, the former president of Microsoft China and President and Chief of Xinhua Capital Group, is sometimes known as the "Part time Emperor". In 2010, scientific expert Fang Zhouzi broke the news that Tang Jun's academic background was actually fabricated. In April of 2011, the media reported that Tang Jun paid $3,000 USD for a fake PhD from the Pacific Western University. Tang Jun continuously denied the accusations and even threatened to sue Fang Zhouzi. Following Fang Zhouzi's continued efforts to provide evidence relating to Tang Jun's academic background, Tang Jun became suspiciously silent on the issue. On June 19 this year, at Beijing University's Beiya Hotel, he apologised for counterfeiting his degree and warned students not to follow his example.
