Guangzhou authorities are getting tougher on foreigners who work and live illegally in China. So far this year, 768 foreigners have been deported with African foreigners constituting a large portion of those.

Offences that have resulted in deportation include expired passports, overstaying visas, working without the correct certification and illegal entry, among others.

The African community in Guangzhou has come under attack from Chinese media recently with various reports blaming them for various social problems in the area.
