On the Way to Market Dominance? Huawei Sales Up 40% from Last Year

Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong announced on Tuesday in the first half of 2016, the company sold 60.56 million smartphones, up 25%. The company earned 77.4 billion RMB in smartphone revenues, an increase of 41%. Huawei’s overall sales revenues were 245.5 billion RMB, up 40% from the previous year.

“Last year Huawei held 9.9% of the global smartphone market share. In the first half of this year, the number reached 11.4%. The company also holds 18.6% of the market share in China,” said Yu Chengdong.

Huawei has been slowly catching up to Samsung and Apple. Samsung holds 24% of the Chinese market, and Apple holds 17.9%.

Yu Chengdong said that Huawei will eventually hold more than 30% of the Chinese market. In the near future, the company hopes to have a 20% market share.

Huawei’s best-selling products include the Matebook 8, P9 and P9 Plus and Honor V8. The Matebook P9 and P9 Plus have experienced more than 120% sales growth this year.
