The continued anti graft crackdown is still in full swing, as 6,017 government officials were punished in July alone for violating rules of conduct.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection discovered 4,480 cases of misconduct, including using public funding for expensive entertainment or travel, being lazy at work, receiving expensive gifts, hosting extravagant banquets and ‘indiscreet’ use of public vehicles.

This latest move comes on the tail of several high profile investigations and explulsions from the CCP, including the arrrest of Zhou Yongkang, former member of the Politburo Standing Committee and the most senior official to be purged since the trials of the Gang of Four over thirty years ago.
