30th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival Now in Session
Jan 08, 2014 By eChinacities.com

The 30th Harbin Ice and Snow Festival official opened on January 5 and will run through until the end of March. The long running and largely popular festival will take place across several venues including Zhaolin Park, Sun Island and Harbin Engineering University.

Because it is the 30th festival hosted by the snowy city in China’s North East, this year promises to be quite a spectacle. More than 10,000 people were involved in the making of the structures and sculptures, which are constructed from man-made snow and ice from local rivers.

A particularly mesmerizing sight is the view of the main castle at night when it is brought to life by colorful lights. A must see for all visitors to China, and if you’ve never been then this year’s event will be one of the best in its history.
