24 Killed in Coal Mine Fire in Northeast China

A fire in a coal mine in Liaoning province in Northeast China killed 24 workers and injured 52, Shanghai Daily reported.

The fire took place in a coal mine owned by Hengda Coal, a subsidiary of Fuxin Coal. Fuxin Coal has stated that rescue work is over, and that all injured workers are now hospitalized.

The company will stop operations in other mines and do further safety checks to ensure that an incident like this does not happen again. Over 4,600 workers are employed by Hengda Coal.
