20 Injured in Yunnan 5.5 Magnitude Earthquake

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck in Yunnan’s Cangyuan County at 18:24 on Sunday March 1.

The county, which borders Myanmar, is an autonomous prefecture that is home to large proportions of China’s Wa minority. As of 10:00 on March 2, 20 people were reported injured.

62,000 people have been affected by the earthquake as many homes were destroyed by the quake and the subsequent aftershocks. Emergency services have headed to the area and 1,000 tents, 2,000 quilts and 20,000 meters of tarpaulin were sent to the affected areas.
