Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center: More than Just Campuses

The Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center is home to over 200,000 students and can easily be described as a city within a city. Located on Xiaoguwei Island in Panyu District, this mega conglomerate of university campuses is spread over 179,000 kilometers, with Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and many others all represented here. But besides being a temporary home for a large portion of Guangdong’s student population, Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center also boasts a number of cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and attractions that are worth checking out.

Very useful article for people in GZ. I'm going back out to the Island today, and planning to check out 3 of the 5 places listed. One thing for those who don't know is you can rent a bike at the subway stations at Higher Education Mega center for a couple hours, or all day, which is the best way to get around the island and see everything. Bring a 1000 yuan or so for 2 people for the deposit on the bike, but it is worth it.
