Introduction
Thanks to its strategic geographical location, Zhengzhou has long been a major transport hub along the Yellow River. Though you probably can't find everything you want here, shopping districts are perfectly adequate. The main thriving commercial areas include Er Qi Plaza, Er Qi Road and Dehua Street. International Friendship Plaza (Guoji Youyi Guangchang), Zhengzhou Commercial Building, Hualian Mansion, Zhengzhou Department Store and Ya Xi Ya mansion are the most popular places to go shopping. Most major shopping centers are located near the railway station in the northeastern part of the city.

In terms of traditional goods, reproduction Tang porcelain figures, jade and lacquer ware are all made here and calligraphy and paintings are also popular. This is a good place to buy paint equipment and tools including writing brushes, ink-stones and bars. The Zhengzhou Jade Carving Factory cuts pretty stones and prices are usually reasonable- if you bargain hard first.
Honeysuckle is sold as a medicinal herb to fend off sunstroke.  Take some back home with you and give it a try. Dates, persimmons, pomegranates, watermelon and cherries are also grown in the area.
