Most visitors to Yiwu come to take advantage of the business opportunities and the vast Yiwu International Trade City, where over 15000 stalls and a multitude of shops can supply shoppers with everything they could ever dream of. There is also an active night life, mainly centered on the bars around Santing Lu Night Market and the Xiuhu Square Underground Shopping Mall. A variety of, KTVs, performance halls, sports centers, tea houses and restaurants are open year round.

Visitors would be well advised however to venture away from the bright lights and take a trip out to see Yiwu's mountains, caves, parks and lakes. Luo Binwang Park is a memorial to one of the greatest poet of the Tang Dynasty

Yiwu does have some museums and galleries, such as the Yiwu Museum, opened in 1998 to display paintings and calligraphy as well as exhibits depicting the history of this city from the Neolithic age through to the present day. The Memorial Museum of Qi's Troops also provides an interesting window into the history of Yiwu, celebrating the life and heroic efforts of Qi Jiguang who fought Japanese pirates in Ming dynasty China.

The living history of the region is demonstrated in Fotang Ancient Town which sits only 10 kilometres from Yiwu. It is a well-preserved 300-year old trading town, featuring halls, steles, temples, wharfs and bridges all built in the Ming
