Many think of Shenzhen as a shopper's paradise, attracting visitors from mainland China and Hong Kong, Macau and the rest of the world alike. As a modern financial and commercial metropolis, Shenzhen does not offer much in terms of sites and culture, but the city has developed theme parts and man-made scenic spots making the city a fun place to visit for pleasure.

The city is host to four major tourist attractions that feature dining, entertainment and sight seeing. Window of the World is located near Shenzhen Bay. The park displays miniature replicas of 130 world famous sites such as the Eiffel Tower, Grand Canyon, Sydney Opera House, and much more. Visitors interested in Chinese culture should visit Splendid China & Chinese Folk Culture. Splendid China introduces first time travelers to the wonder of China and its 5,000-year history. Many of the structures that people come to see are built in a 1:15 scale. Some famous representative buildings include The Summer Palace, Great Wall, The Forbidden City, and Xi'an's Terra Cotta Warrior and Horses. The spectacle also contains many natural wonders of China including the Stone Forest, Huangshan Mountain, and Huangguoshu Waterfall. Chinese Folk Culture is an entertainment park that introduces many to the country's cultural diversity to the world. Many of China's 56 ethnic groups are represented here, offering visitors a peek at indigenous lifestyle, customs, and cultural performances.

Most tourists to Shenzhen visit Zhongying Street (otherwise known as the One Street, Two Systems Street). When Hong Kong was handed to the British, the street was divided into two parts:  Mainland and Hong Kong. Posts clearly demarcated the Chinese and British side of the shopping street. Today, foreign visitors interested in heading to Zhongying Street are required to obtain special permission from the Travel Center Hall near the entrance.

Minsk Aircraft Carrier World is a theme park on a real aircraft carrier. Prior to being an attraction, the aircraft carrier was part of the USSR Navy Pacific Fleet. After the end of the Cold War, the Carrier was sold to South Korea and in turn to China. Today, many visit the Minsk Aircraft Carrier to learn about the life on a carrier and be entertained by numerous performances.

Even though Shenzhen is not a city with a colorful historical past, it is proud of its two museums: Shenzhen Museum and Longgang Hakka Folk-custom Museum. Shenzhen Museum displays porcelain, calligraphy, paintings, and bronze wares from different dynasties. However, those that are more interested in being able to touch artifacts should head to Longgang Hakka Folk-custom Museum. The museum is like a mini-Forbidden City with a protective wall built around the various rooms, halls and houses. One great thing about Longgang Hakka Folk-custom Museum is that excessive walking is not necessary.
