Introduction

Qingdao's most sought-after souvenirs are its shell crafts, its yellow millet wine and Taoist Laoshan tea, which is picked on the slopes of the mystical Taishan Mountain.  These goods are so prolific in Qingdao that it's more difficult to miss them than find them.  All major shopping districts have more than their fair share of tea and liquor shops, and the beachfront is teeming with vendors peddling bracelets, necklaces, earrings, figurines and other knickknacks made of shells.  Those looking for an even more whimsical gift to take home should turn their attention to the peculiar six-sided hats displayed in many a Qingdao shop window.

Primary shopping districts are located at Zhongshan Road, Longshan Underground Market and more recently, Taidong Pedestrian Street.
