Wuhan Woman Puts Grandson Up for Sale to Save Son

Wuhan Woman Puts Grandson Up for Sale to Save Son
Apr 28, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A grief stricken grandmother took some desperate measures to raise funds for her leukemia-stricken son’s medical bills on Friday.

57 year old Liu Xiaoying took to the streets of Wuhan and put her eight year old grandson up for sale, in the hope that someone would take him in exchange for the price of a life saving operation for her thirty year old son.

She knelt on the street and kowtowed to passersby in front of a sign that offered the primary school aged boy in exchange for 30,000 RMB, to pay for a bone marrow transplant.

Police soon arrived however after being notified by the general public. The woman later said that she knew it was wrong, but couldn’t think of any other way to raise the money.

When informed of what was going on, the son and his wife claimed that they had no idea that their mother was attempting to traffic their child. Hopefully they will be able to find a less drastic method of raising the money for the operation.

That is cheap way to make people believe that she will do such a horrible action. Her definite goal is to take money for her son. I definetly understand that chinese society doesnt give a damn about things that they are not in their family. If China wants to solve these social problems they need to increase wages and health care system. In Europe example tax rate is high however if you got sich you can get a lot of benefits from government. In China you will be left to dead even in hospitable if you dont pay. Is that communism ? Some rich chinese people who earns tones of money by making immigrant workers work like a slave, should think about to help this kind of people. But i think they are so busy to sleep with so many mistresses in china

Poor woman…Wait a sec! How the hell would that even be possible???? who'd buy somebody else's child for money? I've heard people leave their children at someones door and ring the bell and then run away and watch what's gonna happen to their child afterwards, if they'd ever wanna do that kinda thing…But wait, she wants to raise money for her son…This is getting messed up :-D Joking aside, I believe she knew from the beginning that no one would ever buy her grand child…I think her idea was to let people know that she's so desperately in need of money that she actually thought of doing such a horrible thing and by doing that people probably pay her for her sad story...

That's a fictional story. Leukemia is a cancer of the blood, so I'm left wondering what is he surgically removing? Also, most people with leukemia are kids. The older you get, the less likely of survival. I found out I had it when I was 13. I never had "surgery" for my cancer, but I've had multiple other surgeries dealing with the damn allergic reactions to the meds. None of which were life threatening (even staph infection of the lung is treatable even though at the time the team of doctors couldn't figure out what was in my lung for weeks).

Wow. I expect you have never taken any class about the human body. Blood cells are made in your bones. My 8yr old knows that. Bone marrow transplants help restore the body's natural balance and helps compete with the cancer

Also i don't know why they would do surgery on the mrsa in your lungs but you are probably misunderstanding what the purpose of the surgery was, which was probably to biopsy a piece of irregular lung tissue. Some "surgeries" are not supposed to correct anything, rather they are for diagnostic purposes. So that docs can determine a treatment. If you had what looked like a fibroid cyst in your lungs they might have biopsied it to rule out cancer.

Family bonds are much stronger in China than in other countries. Sell one to save the other.

That's one month of income for well paid jobs. Yet, it's one year of income for the majority, in cities. I don't compare with countryside. There won't be any a Chinese Dream without some serious welfare system. In 2008, trillions of stimulus have been spent in ... White elephants projects, that mostly benefit already filthy rich people. Very little of this have been spent in easier access to medecine, better schools in countryside, etc. It's too easy to blame bad luck and avoid responsibility and accountability. Serving the people ?

Me thinks she is lying about selling the kid and was just begging. A story is what all the best beggars have.
