Family Pays Nanny Ten Years Salary in Advance, Give her 300,000 RMB
Feb 24, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A Shenzhen family have decided to tie down their kids’ nanny for the next ten years and have paid her out in full, already, the amount of 300,000 RMB. Apparently it is becoming more and more difficult to find a good nanny in the southern city and so the family wanted to make sure they had one for the considerable future.

For the past three years they employed a different nanny, but she was recruited by the family’s neighbors. Obviously scarred by this loss they decided that they needed to make sure the next one will be around for a while. Another benefit of going about business in this way is that they avoid paying what nannies might cost in ten years time. The nanny has said that she is going to put the money towards buying a house for her son who works in Shenzhen and will be getting married soon.

Hopefully the nanny doesn’t suffer from the kind of complacency that hits people when they get paid before they work.

they got a bargain. 300,000 for 10 years is 2,500 a month. This does not take into account the increases in costs over that time. By the end of the 10 years the poor woman will feel conned.

Yup. Present value - time value of money and inflation and such.
