Developers in Henan Block Road into the Village to Force Residents to Move

Developers in Henan Block Road into the Village to Force Residents to Move

Real estate developers in China are known for their underhand methods of getting reluctant residents to move out of their way. While some residents manage to resist, others don’t fare so well.

Workers, allegedly from the Xuanyuan Paradise property development company, were seen breaking up the road between Liuzhai and Xinmi City, on the evening of January 17. They completely destroyed a kilometer stretch of the road meaning bus services between the two places are severely disrupted.

According to local residents, the dastardly deed was done in order to force them to move out of their houses so they could be knocked down.

This kind of bullying tactic by developers is unfortunately very common in China. The most recent case to grab national attention, was a demolition team who hired a gang of AIDS patients to intimidate residents into leaving.

Okay, and where is the government? Isn't there laws against randomly tearing down roads and bullying villagers? Oh right, I know where the government is... in the back pocket of the real estate company.

Exactly right! Corruption at it's best. Yet another reason why China will never be a great country. This must be why China doesn't want the evil western influence - we wouldn't stand for this at home. But as long as the people are kept stupid the government will keep pulling these stunts.
